PERSIB's Malian midfielder Makan Konate bitterly regretted the failure to reach AFC Cup's Quarterfinal after losing to a Hong Kong side Kitchee SC. PERSIB, as earlier reported, got struck by two goals in first half and fought back in second half to force a draw and enter extra time, but despite the dominance, the home side still faced deadlock to find the net.
Konate, who's crowned PERSIB's leading goalscorer last season in domestic league claimed that his side had shown their utmost effort to match the level of the last season semifinalists, but not got enough to send the club to the tournament next round.
"Though, we tried to wake in second half and made some scoring chances, it all ended in failures. But this is football where we can't always win,
"They have many good players and many foreign players. We made a change in second half and put bigger pressures, but they had solid defense as well, preventing us to score," he stated.
PERSIB's exit from the competition also meant that the Maung Bandung has no more competition to follow as the domestic league was stopped after an endless row in the footballing world of Indonesian. Konate, is left puzzled by the situation.
"I have no idea what I suppose to do now after the loss in AFC Cup. I may only need to wait the league running again," he hoped.
To kill times while waiting the certainty of the competition, the ex-Barito has planned to go on holiday with his fellow Malians Morimakan Koita and Abdulaye Maiga of Sriwijaya FC.
"Actually i plan to have holiday while waiting for the league to start again, but I'll wait the confirmation from management first," he closed.
