Despite remaining proud of his men that gave a good fight in AFC Cup's one-off round of 16, Emral Abus admitted that the eventual winners Kitchee SC of Hong Kong was a better side and therefore deserved to earn Quarterfinal spot.
PERSIB had to suffer a defeat for the first time in the tournament after conceding two goals in first half and failed to bounce back despite having bombarded Kitchee's goal with shots and crosses. The lack of sufficient finish saw PERSIB left the Asian secondary in front of the cheering crowds.
"It's a good game but we got bad result. We conceded two first half goals from a header and a rebound. We managed to put more pressure as we seek equalizing goals to keep our hope alive, but it all ended in failures," said the Sumatran coach.
With the defeat, PERSIB has now said farewell to any competition as the domestic league stopped following an unending dispute caused by government interference to help repairing Indonesian footballing world. Emral, however, congratulated Kitchee for the victory and wished a good luck for the HK's side.
"I'd like to congratulate them for the win. Kitchee are a great team, they're quick to spray out everyime they got possession. They have very good players and played good transition. They deserved to win this match," he conveyed.
